Business coverage, explained

Start with the exposure. Then the policy.

General Liability is one piece of business insurance. Other risks may require different coverage or separate policies.

General Liability

Commonly addresses covered third-party bodily injury and property damage claims arising from business operations, subject to policy terms.

Contract requirements

Review requested limits, additional insured requirements, and other insurance terms before taking on a new job or lease.

Other business exposures

Ask us to review property, vehicles, employees, professional services, and other risks to identify which coverage conversations you need next.

Coverage descriptions are general. Availability, limits, exclusions, and eligibility depend on the insurer and the actual policy or plan.

Your business description matters.

Tell us what you do, what you don’t do, where work takes place, and whether subcontractors are involved. A clear description helps us request a more relevant quote.

What is the difference between general liability and professional liability?

General liability commonly addresses certain bodily injury, property damage, and personal or advertising injury claims involving your business. Professional liability addresses certain claims arising from errors or omissions in professional services. Neither label means every claim is covered, and one policy does not automatically replace the other. Your operations, contracts and actual policy terms determine the protection to review. Start with Hoppy’s existing business quote options.

Does a business owners policy include every coverage a business needs?

A business owners policy, often called a BOP, typically packages property and liability protection and may include business interruption coverage. It usually does not include every exposure: commercial auto, workers’ compensation and professional liability often need separate consideration. Eligibility and covered losses vary. Tell Hoppy how your business operates and share contract requirements so we can discuss which available policies to compare. Request a business coverage conversation.

Can a new business request a quote?

Yes. Share your planned opening date, experience in the industry, operations, and estimated revenue and payroll. We’ll follow up if additional information is needed.

Does General Liability cover every business claim?

No. It does not replace every type of commercial insurance. Employee injuries, professional errors, vehicles, and other exposures may require separate coverage.

What if I don’t know the coverage limits I need?

Select “Help me decide” on our General Liability questionnaire and attach any contract requirements you have. We’ll discuss the details needed for your quote.

Will I need more than the initial questionnaire?

Possibly. The questionnaire is a starting point. Depending on your operations and the insurer, supplemental applications, loss runs, or other documents may be required.
